Yes, you can get the latest updates about your favourite blog using google reader. 1st you must have gmail account which you can get it for free now. Last time, you have get the invitation to get the account. After that go to reader.google.com and login using your gmail account. Walla!, your reader is ready now. All you have to do is just add the blog that you like to read using your reader.
